Welcome to Ladies Day at the Albany Golf Club. The 2008 Golf Season is fast approaching. We hope many of you will join us for a fun season of Ladies Golf. On Thursday afternoons this year, you will find a variety of options for your playing pleasure. COME AND PLAY. Sign up for a tee time and join us for an afternoon of golf with old friends or new. After your round of golf, stay for dinner or play another nine. Wear pink for the Rally For The Cure on July 24th. This is a great event supporting the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation and sponsored by Golf for Women Magazine. Cost for this event is $30.00 THURSDAY EVENING SCRAMBLE – SHOTGUN AT 6:30 Every Thursday a scramble will be played at 6:30. Create your own team or join someone you haven’t met before. Just have FUN!!! Come early and have dinner LADIES LEAGUE League play will be available, same as past years, for those who want a little competition. As the current Board of Directors, we would like to encourage everyone to join the 2008 Albany Golf Course Ladies League. We all deserve to take some time out of our busy schedule for ourselves, and what better way to do that by playing a round of golf, visiting with old friends, and making new ones. Our goal is to make league play as fun and stress free as possible. Dinner will be offered beginning at 5:30. Meals will be prepared by the Golf Board and some friends of the Golf Board and served each week. SPRING DINNER-WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 2008 Come join our league opener. Everyone is welcome. If you are undecided about joining league, this is a great way to come and see what we’re all about. Social hour begins at 6:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. The cost for the evening is $12.00 and reservations are required. Please send your payment in no later than Friday, April 18. HANDICAPS All league golfers are required to have an established handicap. The seasonal cost for this computerized service is $20.00. This must be paid each year to maintain your handicap, even if you choose not to join league. If you do not have a current handicap, you are encouraged to complete a minimum of 5-18 hole rounds prior to the start of league play. See Paul Wellenstein at the clubhouse if you need further information. LEAGUE FORMAT Our league’s format is team play. Last year, each team consisted of 6-7 members. The number of members determines the size of the team. The team’s score is calculated by taking the top three net rounds each week. This format allows golfers of all capabilities to play and contribute. One nine each week is closed for league members starting at 3:00. You sign up with league members that you want to play with and the time that works best for you. League play will begin with a team scramble on May 15, 2008 followed by dinner and a meeting. The final day to sign up for Ladies League will be Monday, April 28, 2008. Sorry no exceptions. League dues for 2008 are $15.00 and must be paid prior to the first night of league play. The dates of this year’s league play and the payment form for everything discussed in this letter are listed on the back of this sheet. FUN STUFF Just to keep things interesting, there are a number of “fun things” that members can participate in. Par and Birdie boards so you can proudly display your accomplishments, golf balls for the low net score in each flight, participation in the Rally for a Cure golf scramble, cash awards if you get a blind bogey (a $10.00 seasonal fee is required to participate in the blind bogey) and fun weekly contests. Specifics on all of these will be available on our first league night. We will wrap up the season with a fall dinner on September 10th ... No golf that night, just food, fun, and, of course, prizes!
