Notes from the superintendent:
Welcome to a new season in 2011!!
2010 brought lots of surprises. A very early opening and some well deserved warm spring weather turned into hot, humid, and wet. Twenty-six inches of rain in June, July and August
created some very extreme conditions for our turf and our grounds staff. Thanks to all of our staff for their hard work to keep the course playable throughout some very difficult conditions.
We were still able to get some added things done on the course including reconstruction of tee boxes, bunker removal, irrigation updates and additions, tree removal, some cart path
work and finally the reconstruction and expansion of our putting green. With a retaining wall built by our staff we were able to more than double the original size of the green.
Hopefully, weather permitting, it will be ready to use as early as possible. We were also able to purchase some much needed equipment in 2010.
Once again this year I believe the economy, along with the weather, will dictate what we can accomplish on the course outside of the day to day routines. Trying to keep golf affordable,
while costs continue to rise, is very challenging. I would like to thank everyone for their support of the AGC through all the years, good and bad. The course belongs to all of us as
members and it is our job not only to take care of it but also to take pride in it.
I would also like to thank Terry and the whole grounds staff for the hard work and pride that they put into the AGC. It can’t happen without them. It doesn’t matter if it’s the greens,
tees, and fairways or the flowers, rough, and trees, the same pride and dedication is put toward all aspects of the course.
Finally, I would like to invite anyone with any questions, opinions, suggestions, or just the need to spend a few minutes to talk to contact us at the shop. Stop by or call us, we would
be happy help with anything we can. Thanks again, and let’s make this a great year.
Let's make it a great 2010!
See you when the grass turns green.
